Dear Finger Lakes District Member,

Earlier this month we informed you that the Chair position has been vacated and any interested parties could put their name forward by 2/13/14 to be on the ballot for a special election held electronically. Our ballot has been determined and we will be holding an electronic election. Please submit your vote by Thursday 1/13/14 at 6PM. To submit your vote you will need to select your candidate on the ballot.  In order to vote, you will need to log-in to the NYPTA website because you must be an active NYPTA member.

Below you will find the Resume/CV for the unopposed candidate for the Chair position.

Have a great week!

Happy New Year!

I am writing to inform you that Megan O’Brien, Chair of the Finger Lakes District, has resigned from her position effective January 1, 2014.  We thank Megan for her years of service to the District and wish her the best in her future professional endeavors.

In accordance with our District bylaws, the District Director assumes the position of Chair until an election can be held. In that regard, please be advised that a gap currently exists in our bylaws as there is no language allowing for the contingency of a special election.  However, because this position needs to be filled sooner rather than later, and if there are no objections raised, it has been determined that we will hold an election by e-mail ballot.  If you are interested in running for the District Chair position, please email your resume/curriculum vitae to the Finger Lakes District email at  no later than January 15, 2014.  You will find a description of the role and responsibilities for the District Chairperson here.  Once we have all interested individuals identified for the ballot, we will be emailing the district to notify of the election date and process.

If you are not interested in the Chairperson position, but would be interested in another position such as Secretary, Treasurer, Legislative Liaison or any other position, please let us know via email.  Giving our leadership changes, there may potentially be additional positions opening up.  We will keep the you informed if and when, any other positions become available.

Please feel free to email the Finger Lakes District with any questions or concerns.

The Finger Lakes District Executive Committee

Dear NYPTA Member,

We are conducting a research project for our final professional year in the Nazareth Physical Therapy program. Our study is interested in the evaluation choices of licensed physical therapists who work with the neurological population. We would like to invite you to participate in an interview to help further our understanding. We are focusing on those therapists that meet the following criteria:

  • Have practiced for greater than or equal to three years.
  • More than 50% of your caseload over the past 3 years have been adults with neurological diagnoses
  • Does NOT work in an acute care (bedside) setting more than 2 days a week.

Interviews will last for no more than an hour, conducted at your convenience by two researchers either in person, over the telephone or via an online video call. Audio recording will be conducted and every precaution will be taken to maintain participant confidentiality. These recordings will be deleted after interview transcription.

If you are willing to participate in this research, please send an email to

You will receive a short follow-up demographic survey to determine your eligibility.  Those participants who are eligible will be contacted to schedule an interview at their convenience. Those clinicians who complete the interview will receive a gift card to compensation for their time.

Thank you for your consideration,

JJ Mowder-Tinney, PT, Ph.D, NCS, C/NDT
