Part I.

4 hours - Kinesiology Taping Redefined – Taping Movements, Not Muscles  

This course introduces the concept of movement therapy and enhancement viafunctional taping methods. It includes a review of the current literature supportingthe theory of kinesiology taping for the purposes of rehabilitation, edema/swellingmanagement, neuropathic pain and postural management. The course is intended fortherapists and practitioners with all levels of experience with taping. All suppliesneeded for the course are provided.

Part II.

2 hours - Mapping Movement - Mobility and Stability Rehabilitation for Exceptional Patient Care

This course introduces the concept of movement assessments and enhancement via myofascial release techniques. It includes a review of the current literature supporting the theory of foam rollers and mobility balls for the purposes of pain mitigation, rehabilitation, activity preparation and recovery. All supplies needed for the course are provided - ROLLERS AND MOBILITY BALLS. Participants should present themselves with comfortable clothing to allow for full range of motion and be prepared to MOVE.

Speaker Biography.

Dr. John K. Koniuto, PT, MSPT, DPT, FMT-C, is a skilled Physical Therapist and the owner of Oakdale Physical Therapy & Fitness based in Johnson City, NY, which specializes in out-patient, sports injuries, orthopedic and general rehab, and prehab services. Dr. Koniuto’s primary clinical specialty is sports and orthopedic rehab, focusing on strength, balance, posture, and functional assessment while incorporating fitness strategies and their positive impact on the aging process. As a Certified Strength Training Specialist, Certified EMT and FMT Certified Level 1 & 2 RockDoc, he also has a special interest in injury prevention, wellness, and rehab using individualized kinesiology taping techniques and movement strategies. Dr. Koniuto grew up in Upstate New York before he earned his BS and Master’s in Physical Therapy at Springfield College in Massachusetts, and his Doctorate from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He has worked with semi-pro sports teams and has extensive experience in various clinical settings such as private practice, hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, scholastic and industrial companies. Dr. Koniuto values the professional relationships he has with his clients and the positive impacts he has on their quality of life. When he is not working, John enjoys rock/ice climbing, CrossFit, mountain biking, mountaineering, running, playing volleyball with the local men’s USVBA club team, and golfing.
