Course Title: Sports Related Hip Injuries: Current Treatment Strategies

 

CEHs: 2.4 (pending)

 

Course Description: The learner will be able to:

  1. Describe the most common sports related hip injuries seen in the outpatient physical therapy setting.
  2. Explain the most common causes and mechanism of injury for sports related hip injuries.
  3. Identify the common special tests and assessment strategies used in the clinic to evaluate common sports related hip injuries.
  4. Explain the differential diagnosis for low back and sacroiliac joint involvement.
  5. Discuss current treatment and injury prevention strategies for the most common sports related hip injuries that include treatments such as biologics/injections, and/or surgery.

 

Course is open to PTs, PTAs, PT Students and PTA Students

Presenter: Michael D. Witter, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist at Northwell Health - STARS at the Rego Park Location

 

Dr. Witter possesses in-depth knowledge with an evidence-based approach to the assessment, management, and treatment of various orthopedic and other sports injury related conditions. His experience includes over 7 years of outpatient rehabilitation work with patients of all populations including infants/pediatrics to geriatrics, neuro/ balance rehab, chronic/acute pain management, and post-op rehab; as well as volunteering and working with local youth and adult sports teams.
