Research Committee

The purpose of the Research Committee is the collection, evaluation and selection of platform or poster research and special interest presentations for the Annual Conference; the selection of the Robert S. Salant Awards for the best research and special-interest presentations; the evaluation of applications/proposals for the Research Fund and recommendation of recipient(s) of monies from the fund; the provision of consultation to Chapter members in the clinical or academic communities who request assistance or advisement with research activities; and to facilitate clinical research in physical therapy throughout the state. The Research Committee is accountable to Board of Directors and consists of three members. The Vice President is an ex-officio member. The Chairperson is appointed by the Executive Committee. Anyone interested in this committee must demonstrate a willingness to devote time to the facilitation of PT research and a documented background in research (especially clinical applicable research) including presentation and publication. Doctorally prepared candidates should be given priority when possible.

2013 NYPTA Conference - Albany, NY  (October 25 - 26, 2013)

Call for expanded poster presentations

Do you have a research project you would like some feedback on? Have you collected some patient outcomes data you want to discuss? Do you have some pilot data but are not sure what to do next? Or, do you have an idea that you just want to bounce off some colleagues? NOW IS THE TIME! The Research Committee would like to provide an opportunity for a new, creative, collegial, exchange of ideas to take place at the NYPTA conference in October.

What: NYPTA Conference Expanded Poster Session. All topics welcome! (pilot data, case studies, literature reviews, clinical descriptions, questions, etc)

When: October 25-26 at the Desmond Hotel in Albany

Who: All are welcome! (students, clinicians, new faculty, seasoned faculty exploring a new area, administrators, etc)

What next: First, submit an "abbreviated abstract" (half page describing your ideas) to by  September 16 so the Research Committee can organize and tally the topics to be included. Second, bring a poster to the Annual Meeting to discuss and create dialogue with colleagues, friends, peers. Third, learn and have fun chatting about topics you are interested in!  Posters should not exceed a standard A1 poster size (27.5 x 39.37 inches; 70 x 100 cm).   The website can be a nice resource to both develop, print, and ship your poster if you choose.

Robert Salant Awards

At each conference, members of the Research Committee select three outstanding platform or poster presenters who will receive a Robert Salant Award in the amount of $100.00
