Read a letter from NYPTA President below regarding our recent victory in the legislative arena:
Dear Fellow NYPTA members,
Great news!! Yesterday, the NY State legislature passed our Workers’ Compensation PTA bill (S2718 –A Griffo A2116-A Zebrowski). Passage of this bill will allow the services of a PTA to be recognized for payment under the NYS workers compensation program. The efforts that brought this bill to passage span multiple years, multiple meetings and discussions with both internal and external stakeholders, the continuous efforts of your leadership and of course each of you, the members. We now await the Governor’s signature to make this legislation law.
Perhaps you attended Lobby Day, made a local legislative visit, or responded to a call to action and called your legislator. All of these efforts have led us to seeing passage of this very important legislation for our profession in our state.
On behalf of Jake McPherson, our Legislative Chair, Brian Lucey, our Lobbyist and his team at Whiteman, Osterman, and Hanna, Kelly Garceau, our Executive Director, our District Legislative Liaisons, and our Chapter Staff, we thank you for helping us move our legislative agenda forward.
I would encourage each of you to reach out to your legislator to say thank you for their support in seeing this bill to passage. If you do not know who your Senator or Assembly member is or need contact information, please click on the following link: http://capwiz.com/amerpta/state/main/?state=NY.
So now, take a moment to celebrate a legislative win for physical therapy in New York State.
All the best,
Mike Mattia, President
