Temporarily Unemployed?

You don't have to give up you APTA membership when you need it most.

Should you become temporarily unemployed while you are an APTA member, the Employment Transition Program will ease your time between jobs. If you are unemployed at the time of your renewal, you can have your APTA membership extended at no cost for up to six months while you seek employment. With the Employment Transition Program you will continue to receive full benefits - all the valuable resources that APTA offers. You won't miss a single issue of PT Magazine or Physical Therapy, conference announcements, or other valuable membership benefits. And you'll be kept informed, be able to continue networking within your professional community, and receive support from their professional Association - at a time when you need it most.

To qualify for this program, you must have been a member of APTA for two or more years following graduation and must be actively seeking employment. You also must provide a written request and a copy of a letter from your former employer or a state unemployment commission. At that time, your membership will be extended by six months. (Note: This program allows only one extension per member.) For more information, contact the APTA Membership Department at 800-999-2782, ext. 3124.

Also be sure to check out NYPTA's Job Center.
