See below for the portion of your National and Chapter dues that is not deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense to the extent that APTA and NYPTA engage in Lobbying.
 
The non-deductible portion of your Chapter dues is 12%
The non-deductible portion of your National dues is 19%

Call for Applications

The New York Physical Therapy Association invites applications for the 2010 Research Designated Fund. The fund is designated to facilitate clinical research in physical therapy by providing a mechanism for investigators to collect pilot data to support the development of larger, more comprehensive research proposals. Studies that examine the efficacy of physical therapy interventions are encouraged. [ read more ]

New Forums:  Reimbursement Forum and Member Forum

 
There are two new forums open to members of the NYPTA! These forums are an electronic community for NYPTA to inform members of up-to-date information on issues related to Physical Therapy and the Chapter.
  1. Member Forum - this is a general forum for any member to post to at any time. After the first time you log into the forum, you will be notified by email when a post is made.
  2. Reimbursement Forum - this forum discusses Medicare updates, New York State insurance updates, any reimbursement related legislation that the chapter is involved in and updates from meetings with local carriers.
If you are interested in becoming a member of this forum, send an email to kgarceau@nypta.org with the subject line "reimbursement forum".  In the body, please state you would like to be a member.  Within 24 hours, you will have access!  Once you are added to the group you will be notified by email when a post is made.

Important Information Regarding Palladian Health

NYPTA received the following e-mail from Meri Notaro, VP-Customer & Community Relations for Palladian Health, on Monday, December 21, 2009. This e-mail is in response to an e-mail sent to Palladian regarding their Network Development staff contacting HIP physical therapy providers and informing them that they had to credential and contract with Palladian effective January 1, 2010. This contact was made after we received information to the contrary. [read more]

IMPORTANT REIMBURSEMENT INFORMATION

NYPTA received the following information from OptumHealth regarding reimbursement for CPT code 97012, Mechanical Traction Therapy:
Effective January 1, 2010 UnitedHealthcare will no longer reimburse providers for CPT code 97012, mechanical traction therapy when used for the treatment of neck and low back disorders with or without radiculopathy. [read more]
