Shoes4Kids

Shoes4Kids still needs several hundred pair of NEW athletic shoes in order to visit the four different shelters scheduled: June 13-16, 2010; Boston Family Shelter, Families in Transition –YMCA – Boston, Labouré Center Early Childhood Services – South Boston and Crittenton Women’s Union, Brighton, MA.

Shoes4Kids has received a total of 78 pairs of NEW athletic shoes with another 140 pair guaranteed to arrive at conference site. This is less than half the goal of 800 pair of shoes needed to distribute.

Shoes4Kids understands that the economy has everyone on a tight budget, but yet there have been several PTs, PTAs and students who have purchased shoes and socks.

I recall a little girl following me as I left a shelter in Baltimore (PT2009), “Will you come back? Please come back,” the girl said.

While it may be hard to volunteer to visit a shelter while attending PT 2010, it can be a comfort by knowing that your donation of NEW athletic shoes or monetary gift to purchase new shoes will have an impact on the children who call these shelters home.
