COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Neuroplastity: Retraining the Brain from Stroke to Concussion & Beyond

Creating the right environment and incorporating adjunctive therapies is the stimulus behind cortical re-organization.  Research in Stroke and MS have demonstrated the power of the brain to recover and new evidence demonstrates we can offer greater potential of recovery for people with Parkinson’s disease as well as Post Concussion syndrome.  This 90-minute seminar will discuss the current state of evidence supporting cortical reorganization and then identify interventions that should be incorporated in the physical therapy plan of care.

The Link Between the Physical Therapist and Registered Dietitian
This course will introduce participants to the basic concepts of medical nutrition therapy and it’s relationship to energy needs for human performance. Participants will also receive an
introduction to the role of the registered dietitian and physical therapist in providing nutrition services to the physical therapy patient in a variety of settings. Participants will be engaged via
lecture, slides, handouts, and nutrition product displays.
