This course is designed to be a highly clinical description and demonstration of current infant/toddler assessment principles and techniques. Basic infant/toddler assessment concepts will be presented and discussed followed by clinical demonstrations of caregiver interview and child assessment procedures. The instrument utilized during the assessments will be the Rossetti Infant Toddler Language Scale, the most widely used criterion based scale in use in the world today. Practical and clinically applicable discussion will be a vital part of audience participation.
Attendees are encouraged to identify a parent/child dyad from their caseload who would be comfortable allowing Dr Rossetti to interview them and evaluate their child in a private room, accompanied by their therapist(s). The meeting will simultaneously be viewed by the attendees in the larger conference room. The parent(s) and therapist(s) will have a wonderful opportunity to learn more about their child’s development, diagnosis and treatment strategies from Dr. Rossetti.
Who Should Attend?
All Early Intervention Professionals evaluating and/or working with infants and toddlers ages birth to preschool. Course material is appropriate for Special Instructors, SLPs, OTs, PTs, Social Workers, Psychologists and all related professionals.
Learning Objectives – Upon completion, Participants will be able to:
• Utilize a common reference for clinically driven caregiver interview techniques.
• Understand the present status of infant toddler assessment and its implication for treatment and long range developmental intervention and planning.
• Avoid common misconceptions that often take place during the course of assessing infants and toddlers.
• Evaluate their own individual assessment and practice skills in order to draw helpful implications and make changes towards more effective assessments of infants and toddlers.
About Dr. Lou Rossetti, PhD:
Dr. Rossetti is Professor Emeritus of Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He is an internationally recognized authority on services to infants, toddlers and their families, and is a frequent presenter at professional conferences throughout the world. He is the author of five books on infants and toddlers with special needs.
Dr Rossetti is the author of the Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale, the most widely used communication assessment scale for children under three years of age in the world. He is the founding editor of Infant Toddler Intervention: The Transdisciplinary Journal, and has been named a fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Cancellation Policy: Tuition will be refunded less a $25.00 processing fee, if written notification is received by Challenge up to two weeks prior to the seminar. Two weeks to 72 hours prior to seminar date 50% refund; 72 hours or less no refund.
