WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN DO FOR THE DISTRICT IN THIS POSITION?
I feel that I will bring solid leadership and new ideas to expand the services Physical Therapists offer. I would like to enhance the quality of care that is offered throughout the Central District and State wide. While enhancing quality, I want to ensure that our services are maximally reimbursed as we offer skilled services.

I also want to expand the knowledge to the general public of the skilled services we offer though public speaking and workshops. I feel that this could be done by ensuring the general public is aware of the many free resources that are available through the NYPT and APTA websites.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN DO FOR THE DISTRICT IN THIS POSITION?
Throughout my three years working as a physical therapist I have been progressively expanding my role and obligation to advocate for our profession. I believe it is crucial to the success of our profession that we have board members that are visionaries and represent the voice of all APTA members. If nominated for this position I promise to uphold myself with integrity, honesty, credibility, respect, open dialogue and collegiality. By having board members that practice the core values of NYPTA we will continue to be progressive in our practice and in patient/client care. My vision is to actively communicate and collaborate with fellow board members, encourage and educate fellow physical therapists on the importance of the APTA and how to get involved, and to continue expanding my role in the APTA and leadership opportunities.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to express my interest in becoming a NYPTA board member.

Regards,
Eric Kahl, PT, DPT

PRESENT EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time physical therapist at Upstate University Hospital in the outpatient setting, June 2015 – present. I treat orthopedic conditions and also am involved in the Concussion Management Program.

APTA ACTIVITIES:
I have attended Central District meetings.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN DO FOR THE DISTRICT IN THIS POSITION?
I am a recent graduate and have limited experience as both a clinician and as an advocate for the profession of physical therapy. By applying for the position of recording secretary, I am hoping to bring new ideas and enhance communication and collaboration between the Central District executive committee and its members. I would like to utilize this position to promote the value of becoming involved in the NYPTA and encourage fellow new clinicians to become involved. I believe I could assist, in part, to achieve a piece of the NYPTA’s envisioned future – by “preparing the next generation of physical therapy leaders.”
Personally, I am looking forward to beginning my role as an advocate for the profession of physical therapy. I also would like to develop and foster relationships with other like-minded clinicians who wish to advance our profession and uphold the NYPTA’s core values.
