Course description: Physical therapy in the home health practice setting is one that is expected to grow 44% by the year 2022, partially because of the aging baby boom. This presentation will review the parameters of home health; how do patients qualify for home health, who reimburses for home health care, how is the care documented and what does a typical day in the life of a home health physical therapist looks like. Participants will come to understand that home health can be a challenging, autonomous and professionally gratifying career choice!
Participants will be able to:
List and discuss the myths and truths about physical therapists providing care in the home health setting
Recognize the billing mechanisms for Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) and the patient requirements to receive home health services.
Understand the types of patients/conditions and illnesses addressed by the PT in home health.
Describe typical special tests and treatment prescription used by the home health PT
All the Best,
David Hawley, PT, DPT
