District Meeting

Southern Tier Colleagues,

This will be the last reminder for the NYPTA Southern Tier District Annual Meeting, an event I am sure you do not want to miss. We will meet on Tuesday, April 29, 7 PM, Lourdes Hospital Lecture Hall - main floor, 169 Riverside Dr, Binghamton. We will reduce the fee charged to non-APTA members to $5, but I think they should promise to become APTA members within 30 days or so.

To start the meeting, Dr. Kristy Kutney, PT, DPT, will give a presentation "PT Screening for Peripheral or Central Vestibular Pathology". This will be followed by District business consisting of election of District officers (chair and secretary) and discussion and input to the District Delegates going to the chapter Delegate Assembly and the APTA House of Delegates.

The District Delegates would like your input on electing chapter officers (see recent  Empire State Physical Therapy for biographies - president: James Dunleavy; vice-president: Mary Gannon, Shree Pandya; speaker: Peggy Lynam, Lynn Rivers; nominating committee: Robert Byrnes).

While there is only one simple motion for a Chapter by-law change, there are 16 motions (although this is down from 40 last year) that the APTA HOD will take up in June. Our District Delegates (D. Abrams, J. Bunao, H. Greenberger, D. Knapp, S. Lahr, C. McNamara, M. Pagliarulo) need to give input to the chapter on how support these motions. In addition, we have three members (Bunao, McNamara, Pagliarulo) who will be going to the HOD and they would value your input. Information on the APTA motions is availble at the apta website.

Finally, this will be the last District meeting until fall.

Take care,
Steve Lahr, NYPTA Southern Tier District Chair
