My experience last year as a guest of the NYPTA Delegate Assembly, and the knowledge I gained by attending the assembly and participating in the Leadership Development Workshop served to heighten my interest in becoming more actively involved in the process through which our profession is governed. WHY WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A CENTRAL DISTRICT DELEGATE TO THE DELEGATE ASSEMBLY?
The delegate assembly is the chapter’s highest ruling body. With my long history as an active member I want to be involved in the shaping the future direction of our organization. An area that I believe is very important occurred with the passage of direct access. We need to capitalize on the opportunities to utilize this privilege for our patients. Without changes in the insurance regulation on both the state and federal level, few patients will receive early intervention of physical therapy through direct access.
